This articles does a good job at avoiding bias. It represents both sides will but this story definitely shapes how readers will think about Plan B. By delivering both sides of the issue the readers can see that Plan B isn't harmful medically but, in providing it to minors, Plan B could promote promiscuity. But, based on the last paragraph and the quote from Dr. Anita Nelson, this article does lean toward the pro-Plan B side. This article does a good job debunking myths about Plan B ... More »

Society and the male's parents bear the responsibility of maintaining good health by encouraging male circumcision. By studying the link between circumcision and HPV (cervical cancer), doctors and parents can now have more medical backing behind the importance of circumcision and, by circumcising boys, can decrease the risk of HPV in in their future female partners.

This story shapes ideas about circumcision because it is often thought of as unnecessary or a choice of the parents that is based off of cultural or religions reasons. Now people who read this article will believe that circumcision affects the male’s future sexual health an ... More »

This article (especially the later half) does a good job at addressing health in regards to class, age and generation. It is interesting that, despite unemployment, the amount of people without health care hasn't changed much. I wonder how race factors into these numbers. Since many minorities have lower incomes, what percentage of the Maryland population without health care coverage do minorities make up?

This article does a good job exploring how geography can affect health. Thousands of people travel to and from New York every day, making it a place where rare and dangerous diseases can travel quickly, but luckily most diseases are caught because New York has lots of hospitals and places where people can get help. It would be interesting to see which classes are affected by these rare diseases. People in lower classes have less health care and live in places where they could be at a ... More »

This story does a great job at looking at the issue from an unbias perspective. There are no direct stereotypes presented in the article, mainly because the journalist who wrote it did a god job interviewing multiple sources on the issue of cholera in Haiti. He did not limit his sources to just doctors and health professionals but he went into the community and heard about cholera from the people its affecting.

This article does a great job of getting multiple perspectives on the issue. It shows no evidence of prejudice or bias. I like that the journalist who wrote this took the time to talk to both men, women and children on the issue. It would be interesting to see how a woman with breast cancer felt about the "boobies" bracelet but all in all I think that this journalist did a good job.

I find it very sad that people are going to such extremes that they are choosing to abuse house hold items. I think that this article does a great job representing the members of society that choose to abuse science. Bath salts are not meant to be used to get people high but they are being used wrong which will eventually ruin them for everyone. Because members of society have begun to abuse these chemicals, the government needs to take responsibility to ensure that this action does ... More »

This article is shocking. I can't believe this great tragedy was going on unrecognized for so long. The relationship between health and the government is largely at play here. Health is a sensitive subject and because abortion is so controversial, I can see why the government would be hesitant to manage what goes on in abortion clinics. But, the government should always keep citizen's best interests in mind- especially when it comes to their health. The government is entirely ... More »

In this article, Mrs. Obama takes responsibility for the health of children in the United States. Her actions will encourage school districts, principals, parents and children to make healthier choices when it comes to exercise and diet- leading to less childhood obesity. There are many levels of government that this program will have to go through but it is a positive change and very doable. Mrs. Obama is positively influencing society by instigating healthier lifestyles for children.
