Member (since April 2009)My name is Katie, I am a student, I am very interested in health and people's "healthy" habits and I enjoy studying them. I joined this site for a class but if I would have known about it before I would already be a member.
There are multiple aspects of the story that are reported and the depth of the story goes into all the different aspects.
I enjoyed reading this story because I feel that people should pay more attention to fresh food and the nutritional value of such foods. Civilians benefit from these farmers markets and farmers also benefit because they are able to sell their fresh produce.
The author touched on various different diets people could adopt that are affordable and worked in the past. The depth that she went into made the story.
I feel that this topic is relevant and good for others to read about because many Americans are obese and having a poor diet because people do not have enough money to buy good, nutritious food does not make the problem with obesity any better.
It gives the story from the point of view of the person being written about. Although this is the point, it could have been a little longer and given more information on the subject.
I was excited to read this story when I first saw the headline because I have been thinking the same thing lately. I thought I was a little extreme though because I try to be nutritious no matter what, but I am glad that others have the same point of view and are talking about it.
This article does a good job of addressing the media and its involvement in scaring the public. As listeners/watchers of the different forms of media, people can only believe what they hear/see. Kurtz shows how the media tries to keep the sources and information credible, but also that the media is trying to get listeners/watchers so it will go to any length (such as scaring people). He also does a good job of toning the idea of swine flu down so that its more realistic.
The article serves its purpose, to inform people about the negative aspects of Twitter. I would say this is good journalism because even though most of the article is about how Twitter should not be trusted, the author still includes some information that is pro Twitter. The sources used are also credible.
I really liked reading this article because there are so many online sites that people can go to and search about medical problems which actually do more harm than good. People look up certain ailments or diseases and they think that they have it because of what they read, but they may be reading false information. I think this article addresses that in a classy way by not bashing Twitter completely but making it known that people should not take every piece of advice/information ... More »
I feel that this topic is a sensitive one because it involves embryonic research (that was just legalized) but researchers are already finding great use of the embryonic cells by making these new discoveries which may in turn provide a cure
This article should be read because some women may not know that they should remove/not remove their ovaries based on their genes.
The journalistic quality of this article is not great because there could be more quotes to back up the author's findings/ideas, but the author did use a quote from a seemingly credible source. Most of the blog comments posted after the article agreed with the author's findings. Those that didn't agree got to "hear it" from the other bloggers.
This is an interesting concept, I knew that men and women were different on so many levels but I never knew/thought they were different with their sense of smell too.
Not quality journalism, but this is a blog entry written by medical students/professionals and their ideas seem ground-breaking. A link to one source the author used was included which made the information seem more credible
Anything to increase knowledge about obesity is good since the numbers of obese people continues to rise
This article caught my attention because I recently went on a road trip and drove past tons of windmills which sparked a conversation between my boyfriend and I about how windmills could be more efficient. Hopefully ExRo's new generator will turn out to be revolutionary
The slow economy is causing major problems everywhere and the fact that it is influencing people's health care is disturbing

I feel that any measures should be taken to help reduce childhood obesity and/or help children be more healthy because they don't know they have certain food allergies.
