The story provides a good background on previous changes and missteps made by Facebook to characterize how the cleanup could influence the future of the site. A more detailed description of the exact changes to the user experience would have helped paint a better picture for the reader. A good news brief on a whole.
This article was a very informative deep synthesis of why there is so much research to be done into the psychology of Facebook. BJ Fogg explains his point with eloquence yet without resorting to too much jargon. Many who think of Facebook as a childish waste of time or something confined to certain demographics will get an eye opener on how Facebook is actually a new communication medium with far reaching influence on how humans behave in one-on-one and one-on-many interactions.
An extremely fair account of the dangers of setting precedent when updating law to cover the digital age. The article examines both sides, and contains enough background for those unfamiliar with the story. A statement from the plaintiff would have helped, but overall filled with good analysis.
This was a complete waste of time and print. The article seems like an exploration of ways to contribute to networks, but actually just summarizes the concept of user-participation. For instance, instead of linking to Twitter and explaining what makes a good or bad Tweet, it just skims by mentioning you could repost other's tweets,. There isn't even a link to Twitter. The article see-saws between assuming no social network experience and assuming comprehensive knowledge of network apps like Django. One of the five ways to contribute is "Stay Active", which basically tells you to participate instead of just reading. Really? Participating is a good way to contribute? Simply terrible journalism.
The article casts a good spotlight on campaign finance trickery by the Clinton collective, but makes no note of any parallels in the Obama drive for the White House. More balance, a less obviously anti-Clinton view would strengthen the article, as would a more depth on Cindy McCain's history.
