Obviously, an extremely biased position regarding Obama's relationship with lobbyists. The author and the Columbia Journalism Review seem to think that anybody who contributes to a candidate's campaign must belong to a special interest group. If that is the case, then, aren't all contributors "special interest groups"? A check of the Opensecrets.org web site does not seem to support such a negatively skewed article.

God!!! What a bad article. Obviously written by an extreme, fanatic conservativo-fascist. Our country was built by immigrants. Not all immigrants, legal or not, are criminals as she implies. I would venture to say that the percentage of criminal illegal aliens is probably not much different from the criminal percentage among the general population. As far as drug smuggling is concerned, it only occurs due to our insatiable desire for those goods. Eliminate the demand and the problem will be eliminated. Ms. Malkin refers to the illegal immigrants as criminals because "they have violated our immigration kaws". If there is so much violation of the immigration laws, maybe the laws are no longer relevant and the whole immigration ... More »

This article seems a little misleading. Of course contributions come from many different sources - factory workers, bank employees, lawyers, accountants, etc. But, Clinton has raised considerably more from PACs and lobbiests. I am an accountant, but, if I were to make a political donation, that doesn't necessarily mean I am soliciting any kind of favor from the candidate. The writer keeps comparing monies raised in terms of percentages, saying that there is not much difference between the three. The writer states that Edwards raised 2.5 percent ($537,136) from the health industry. This equates to a total contribution to Edwards of almost $21.5 million. By the same token, if Clinton has raised a total of $90 million (and that is ... More »

Good article. Points out several facts that somehow get lost in the current political discourse - facts that should be emphasized more by the Democratic candidates. Reagan should not be given full credit for all the good things that have occurred since the early '80s.

Article is well written and informative; however, it would be more at home on the editorial page, since it is more opinion rather than news.
