Big changes in the facebook profile are evidence that people at facebook are not happy with the direction their product has headed in the last couple of months. The article itself doesn't say that much new about the changes, but it's an important upcoming event.
Not a very deep story, but the advent of friend connect could be very significant in the battle between open platforms like openSocial and closed approaches like Facebook and Myspace. There's definitely redundancy between the different social networks which will probably be eliminated over time.
I'm a big fan of BJ's work, but I wished that this story would have some more depth or at least some facts. The claim that facebook is the biggest thing ever seems like hyperbole without evidence.
I liked this piece especially because it tries to make online life intelligible for the older generation who might not understand it as well.
