It a person focused story that reveals much about the feudal nature of Pakistani society. The writer could have done more to draw out the theme of the dead maid's employer, a lawyer and a former head of the Lahore Bar Association. It was after all the Pakistani lawyers, protestingin their suits and ties whom the NYTimes among others encouraged us to sympathises with when they were ebing beaten on the streets by Pakistan's security forces. Ironic then that a top Pakistani lawyer should be embroiled in such a murky affair.

Not especially. For all its respources, the BBC can only hint at the probability that this killing was organised by the Iranian state. The network must now rely on Iranian opposition websites, which today point out the inconsistencies in the state mnedia's account of the murder. The BBC is excluded from Iran, so this is a good effort with slim resources. Correspondent Jon Leyne's comments at the end are the best part of thid broadcast.
Straight up and down report of Iran's throttling of all media outlets. Without laboring the point it makes one fearful for the safety of journalists and bloggers in the country
KRISTOF is probably the best foreign affairs comment writer around. He does not so much "do wars," as examine the impact of war and conflict on women and children. He is ahea of the curve and a big force in the moves tofocus on violence against women at the UN
A spoonfed account. There is no indication that the reporter has wandered far from the embassy compound in Sanaa.
Well written account of an unfolding environmental tragedy of Mountaintop Removal that for some reason Americans do not get as excited about as they should.
