I believe this article was a great example of good journalism. The author produced a well rounded story, with a great introduction that lures the reader into the story. I also enjoyed the way I could imagine my self as one of those middle school children, and the president is visiting my school. The quotes from the children were nice. The information on President Obama’s new budget was good, it was not only about how he visited the school but his plan for all schools across America. The story had lots of depth, and smooth transitions.

The topic of the article was very relevant and so was the overall idea the reporter was trying to relay. The article was poorly written with a weak conclusion, not much facts or good creditable sources. The article had nothing to do with President Obama and his family vacation. The article had no facts from President Obama’s Administration, mayor of that town, or human resources. The reporter needed facts, how many illegal immigrants are working in Martha’s Vineyard? The reporter went off topic, explaining, to long about a car accident between a speeding Caucasian twenty year old and an ... More »

I did enjoy reading the article, I haven’t heard this particular story before, but it is similar to the usual “budget cuts” stories. When the leader tries to move forward, people are losing jobs, and more money is lost over all. I believe the article is well written, how ever it didn’t keep my attention the entire time. Although the article was not biased, I felt like I didn’t include anything Mayor Rawlings Blake has done for the past year which was positive, rather the article focused on her plans for the future after the budget cuts, and gave a view that her goals may not be reached. The article was well structured, and had a variety of sources. This is an example of good journalism; the article gave an overview ... More »
