As a journalism student, we are told time and time again to structure quotes that make sense and add to the story. I agree that Smith did write what was said but it was all over the place. The quotes did not really follow AP style. That makes t hard for me to place full trust in this publication.
I don't really think this belongs in the News section of the site. This is definitely an opinion blog. "We are now at the point that I have long feared we would be, if we mislabeled carbon dioxide as a pollutant." I'm definitely not a fan of such assumptions. An environmental official would have beefed up his argument. On the plus side, I love the numerous hyperlinks to subjects and legislation I am unfamiliar with. At least i can build an opinion on the subject.
I believe this is quality journalism, the author goes in depth about the stimulus package and the effects it will have on a number of states spending money. I would have like to have seen more quotes to make the story even more credible but i believe Lightman did his research well.
