The plight of the reservists is comparable to the Vietnam draft dogers in my opinion. If they can just hang out until Feb 2009, maybe they won't be prosecuted for desertion. We can hope.
This seems fair and balanced article that does not speculate on implications in anyway. The article describes Sen. McCain wooing the hispanic vote with a trip to Mexico and a speech about border security and Nafta. The article does not mention that although Nafta has brought business to the U.S. and is not the main source of job loss, (that honor belongs to Asian competion) import regulation is necessary. Whether border security is necessary for a fair imigration policy is certainly open for debate.
beyond the story itself, this certainly illustrates broken Govenment that can't get the most obvious thing done, even when it is already started, and in fact doesn't seem to be worried about stopping it and going backward.
This is a very balanced story that chronicles McCain's life during the Vietnam War in particular. It might allow his current views to seem less credible to conservatives and less threatening to liberals. Who knows what he really thinks.
This is another smear on Obama, publicized by Fox News, and carried forward by an ignorant democrat who managed to wiggle up the party ladder! According to this charge anyone, including ambassadors I supppose, who can be said to have "connections" to "terrorists" is suspect of being a terrorist.
Another good example of the dangers of the Industrial-Military complex that Esienhower warned us about.
As long as we do not achieve energy independence, we will make oil producing countries rich. No news there.
This is a "fact check" type article, which lists lots of documented, conflicting information and points out damaging, false statements about Senator Obama by Senator McCain.
Investors with six trillion dollars are putting their money where their mouths are. Six companies are listed in Silicon Valley that are currently developing new sources of energy.
Although this is a pro Obama story, describing the "wrong" and "right" change according to Mr. McCain, I am surprised that the biggest obama change, the one eschewing lobbyist and corporate money, was not mentioned.
This is a gossipy sort of story that we all like, but it's hard to know just how general the feeling expressed in it are. while it seems plausible that conservative republicans don't like McCain's policies, they probably dislike Obama's even more.
This article borders on pop psychology .. the two mind theory. It is fairly interesting model for explaining decison making, but it is of little use in political science applications because it over-simplifies a very complex process.
This article addresses a very important problem ... how easy it is for rumors to gain broad acceptance. This is an issue that can not be over-publicized. It shows how important fact-checking sites are. The article slightly over-simplifies by not addressing the question of the effect of the audiences pre-concepetions and prejudices are on the accepances of the rumor.
Some what confusing article but after sifting, it shows McCains' committment to our constitution except when it's not convenient. Same appears to be true for the Geneva Convention concepts.
I was surprised to see McCain is expected to have greater party loyalty from Republicans than Obama is expected to have from Democrats.
The story shows McCains adherence to conservative economic principles such as taxes, free trade and NAFTA as well as his inconsistent stances on regulation policies for banks and corporations. The outline of a "say anything," rather than a motivated philosophy is beginning to be evident.
