I have been to Israel Palestine 7 times since June 2005 and established WeAreWideAwake 3 weeks after my first trip as my Public Service to America compelled by the "fierce urgency of Now" [Rev MLK, Jr.] to raise awareness and promote the human dialogue about many of the crucial issues of our day: the state of our Union and in protection of democracy, what life is like under military occupation in Palestine, the Christian EXODUS from the Holy Land, and spirituality-from a Theologically Liberated Christian Anarchist POV. I also have become a Feature Correspondent for The Palestine Telegraph and Arabisto.com, the Author of "Keep Hope Alive" and "Memoirs of a Nice Irish American 'Girl's' Life in Occupied Territory" and Producer of "30 Minutes with Vanunu" and "13 Minutes with Vanunu"

It is missing too many facts and "intelligent information" which I have supplied in the Comment section.

Hitch misses too much!

Freedom of The Press and Human Rights are the real issues! North Korea, Zimbabwe, Burma and Israel remain the ONLY states in the world that deny international media and humanitarian aid workers access.

"I plan over the next year, before the 65th anniversary of Hiroshima, to do my part in unveiling this hidden history."-Daniel Ellsberg Me too! In 2005, the whistle blower of Israel's WMD Program, Mordechai Vanunu told me: "When I became the spy for the world, I did it all for the people of the world. If governments do not report the truth, and if the media does not report the truth, then all we can do is follow our consciences. "Daniel Ellsberg did, the woman from ... More »

This is citizen journalism and justice seeking journalism.

Israeli forces also demolished the Al-Kurd family protest tent for the sixth time. The Al-Kurd family was evicted from their home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood last November, just prior to my first visit and I returned again on June 10, 2009... Less than a five minute walk from my room at the Ambassador Hotel and less than ten from the Old City of Jerusalem is the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah. Around the corner from my hotel and up the hill from the Al-Kurd Tent is a newly ... More »

When it comes to the Middle East everything is connected and this story shines a light on how entwined the USA is in the rising violence. In the interest of fair and balanced this reporter also wrote: "Some analysts, however, say the recent shootouts have little to do with Taliban and instead reflect domestic conflict."

Abdujalil Abdurasulov reports that, "The rise in violence may be tied to the United States attempts to find a new supply line through Tajikistan for its forces in Afghanistan, after convoys on its main route in Pakistan were repeatedly attacked by militants. " These Militants are linked to Pakistan, Afghanistan and "The Interior Ministry said they were 'active members of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) [who] participated in the fights against the coalition forces in ... This article is quality journalism as defined in expressing our common humanity as it challenges conventional wisdom. I apologize for linking to the second page, but that is where the quote -and more -from Ann Jones, humanitarian aid worker and author of "Kabul in Winter" can be read.

"If i can't dance its not my revolution."-Emma Goldman... I recently flew to Atlanta to meet up with an old friend from my misspent youth and to see ZZ Top open for Aerosmith... The next day, I crossed paths with many sharp dressed tan/brown/grey camo covered young men all shipping out after only two weeks of R and R... This story is just ONE of many that need to be known in the USA.

On June 13, 2009, in Occupied East Jerusalem, I was embedded with over thirty USA CODE PINK activists and met with a few of the soon to be 1,500 homeless residents of the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan, located minutes away from the Temple Mount and the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is downtown Jerusalem. On June 8, 1998, under the cover of darkness, members of the fundamentalist nationalistic settlement group Elad [a Hebrew acronym for: To the City of David] entered four Palestinian ... More »

Yes and I speak from experience. Reporter, ETHAN BRONNER quoted Osama Alisawi, the minister of culture in Gaza: “We want the writers and intellectuals of the world to come and see how people are suffering on a daily basis." This citizen journalist attempted to do just that embedded with Code Pink activists from June 5-12, 2009. Israel refused to allow us in through Erez, but over 120 internationals did get through from Egypt and more are on their way. The devastation remains unchanged and 1.5 million human beings are suffering under a brutal siege.

This is what citizen journalism is all about. “Many journalists come here to the American Colony, from CNN and NY Times. They all want to cover my story, but their EDITORS say no." -Mordechai Vanunu @ the American Colony March 26, 2006 to WAWA Reporter + Editor excerpted from http://www.wearewideawake.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=539&Itemid=156
