Member (since July 2009)I have been to Israel Palestine 7 times since June 2005 and established WeAreWideAwake 3 weeks after my first trip as my Public Service to America compelled by the "fierce urgency of Now" [Rev MLK, Jr.] to raise awareness and promote the human dialogue about many of the crucial issues of our day: the state of our Union and in protection of democracy, what life is like under military occupation in Palestine, the Christian EXODUS from the Holy Land, and spirituality-from a Theologically Liberated Christian Anarchist POV. I also have become a Feature Correspondent for The Palestine Telegraph and Arabisto.com, the Author of "Keep Hope Alive" and "Memoirs of a Nice Irish American 'Girl's' Life in Occupied Territory" and Producer of "30 Minutes with Vanunu" and "13 Minutes with Vanunu"

When it comes to the Middle East everything is connected and this story shines a light on how entwined the USA is in the rising violence. In the interest of fair and balanced this reporter also wrote: "Some analysts, however, say the recent shootouts have little to do with Taliban and instead reflect domestic conflict."
Abdujalil Abdurasulov reports that, "The rise in violence may be tied to the United States attempts to find a new supply line through Tajikistan for its forces in Afghanistan, after convoys on its main route in Pakistan were repeatedly attacked by militants. " These Militants are linked to Pakistan, Afghanistan and "The Interior Ministry said they were 'active members of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) [who] participated in the fights against the coalition forces in ... On June 13, 2009, in Occupied East Jerusalem, I was embedded with over thirty USA CODE PINK activists and met with a few of the soon to be 1,500 homeless residents of the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan, located minutes away from the Temple Mount and the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is downtown Jerusalem. On June 8, 1998, under the cover of darkness, members of the fundamentalist nationalistic settlement group Elad [a Hebrew acronym for: To the City of David] entered four Palestinian ... More »
Yes and I speak from experience. Reporter, ETHAN BRONNER quoted Osama Alisawi, the minister of culture in Gaza: “We want the writers and intellectuals of the world to come and see how people are suffering on a daily basis." This citizen journalist attempted to do just that embedded with Code Pink activists from June 5-12, 2009. Israel refused to allow us in through Erez, but over 120 internationals did get through from Egypt and more are on their way. The devastation remains unchanged and 1.5 million human beings are suffering under a brutal siege.
