I'm a disabled 40s American revert to Islam who has a lot of time on my hands. I spend quite a few hours at the computer and have been looking for a useful endeavor to fill my time. I pull columns together daily for a blog on Gaza that I put up on Wordpress. I've become fond of doing it and hope I can pitch in here. I look for articles from the non-mainstream sources to avoid the whitewashing bias we have in western media.

Within the writing of Amira Hass you can feel the emotions of the information she is relating. It is a transportation to the war torn area. She visualizes the scenes very well and tells the story with factual as well as emotional information.

At first we dealt with the shocking and exponentially growing statistics. Now we get back to the humanity of it, and the inhumanity. I like Ms. Hass' writing. I always come away from her pieces thinking about the topic and with a feeling of having traveled to where she is writing about.

“Only aerial photographs of the Gaza Strip will make it possible to show and to comprehend the extent of the destruction,” a number of Western civilians said ... More »

I feel this is the beginning of this issue coming to a larger explosion in the world communities. I hope more are going to stand up to the Israeli government and insist they accept their wrong doing in this attack on Gaza. Hamas must also accept their side of wrong doing. Theirs is somewhat understandable in order to get the issue into the eye of the general public. To many people, myself included, were keeping themselves blind to this issue. The world needed to wake up. It was not ... More »

This is the first I've seen this announcement and I've looked around online not coming across it. I could have just missed it or this is the sole one carrying it, or brave enough to publish it.

The Hamas movement, the democratically-elected government of the Gaza Strip, demands a cessation of Israeli attacks and the opening of the Gaza border — which has ... More »

It wasn't an exit interview, it was a CYA session. He was trying to re-write history. The impeachment should have gone forward.

When you look around at the devastation I wonder how some people can say any of this is staged. The buildings are collapsed and dust when 17 days ago they were sound dwellings for many families. You can see the shock, grief and pain on the faces of the children and the panic in the adults as they get what they can from their homes or what's left of what was their home.

It is a unique viewpoint on the cyber road of journalism and gathering / sending information. The article notes how advocacy has now taken a strong turn online bringing people together from all over the world to support or denounce certain causes with this war.

Israeli officials say that it’s part of an effort to win the wartime battle of “hasbara,” or public relations, which many think that Israel lost during ... More »

It kept my interest and answered any questions it raised enough to satisfy my curiosity. I'm not a trained journalist, only a reader. This was a good story that I'd recommend for answering questions currently for this conflict.

It hit on many related issues and covered them well. The sources cited appear to be reliable. The balance on this issue is difficult to maintain. This article maintained balance very well. It was informational, the topics flowed well from one to the other and it kept my interest.

Separately, the Israeli army admitted that the shelling of a UN school that killed dozens of Palestinian civilians this past week was the result of an errant shell that ... More »

The explanations of the interweaving of the Palestinian political structure, or lack of a fair election process, is well explained and based from actual occurrences.

It is a video interview but it is well put together with coverage of each question presented. Jesse Rosenfeld is knowledgeable in the local situation since he is based in Ramallah. His explanation of the structure was excellent and untangled some players in the scheme that I hadn't understood their stance or where they were in the process.
