This is good journalism because the writer took the initiative to interview the president of the Fraternal Order of Police, who was not afraid to say what he likes and doesn't like about the position. This is a feature story and it has a lot of interesting quotes that keep the reader engaged throughout the story. Also, since it is about a police officer from Baltimore, it is very relevant to readers in this area. Overall I think this is good journalism and it is a story that is worthwhile to read.

I think this story shows good journalism for what information the writer has to work with. Scott Dance said that analysts could not be reached, so he had to work with only the information he had available. Therefore he was unable to get expert sources to comment, which takes away from the credibility. Overall I think this story gives readers a good overview of a situation that might come to life in the near future if all goes as planned for the two corporations. I think this is a relevant story because people always care about energy and the changes that it might make in the market.

I found this article to be slightly confusing. After reading it I do not get a sense of who Mfume is and why he is not running for mayor. There were only two quotes, and they do not validate the rest of the article efficiently. Also, I do not think this is good journalism because it does not go very far in depth about Mfune and the allegations he faced, which are most likely the reason why he has decided not to run for mayor. Overall this article is not very helpful to my understanding of this man.

I think this is good journalism because it is a controversial story and it is relevant because this man lived in Baltimore before being taken to Guantanamo Bay. The story gives good background information on why this man was taken to prison and what his charges were. As fas as the leaked document goes, there were not well-sourced quotes to go along with the given information so the reader might wonder where the information came from. This is definitely an interesting story and I highly recommended it for others to read, I just wish there were more quotes from other sources instead of just quotes from the document. Overall this is a relevant and meaningful story.

This is good journalism because the story is interesting, but I thought it would talk more about what Obama was going to do about illegal immigrants instead of focusing on the backlash against immigrants from the locals. It has good quotes from local newspapers and from some local residents, but they are mostly negative and are somewhat biased because the locals are angry about Brazilian immigrants taking their jobs. The quotes are also not cited well at all. It is unclear who said what. The quote at the end was good because the person said that the backlash against the immigrants was not necessary in the discussion.

I thought that this was a good story, but I expected it to be more of a political story about what Obama is doing about illegal immigrants. I think that the nasty comments from local residents in their newspapers are unnecessary and that they went a little too far. It brings up good points, however in the end it says that the problem will have to wait until next year to be solved.

This is good journalism because it gives a description of the final ceremony during which Schaefer was taken around Baltimore for the last time before he is to be buried. This is a sentimental story because it is about people's memories of him. Although it has no citation from experts, this story efficiently gets its message across- which is basically a celebration of Schaefer's life and honoring his death. It talks about how he always wanted more for Baltimore and it shows the lasting impact his life has had on the lives of Baltimorians, even after his death. This is a moving story and I think people who read it will appreciate how it describes Schaefer's life.

This is good journalism because it talks about the farmer's market and the fact that although Bill Richardson, whose family legacy is the produce stand, is tired of running it. Despite the fact that it is tiring work, Richardson continues to run the stand because of the people who come to the Northeast market. This article also shows the role that the Northeast Market and the produce stands play in the lives of neighborhood residents who regularly visit. Through the development of the farmer's market, the reader can also see the development of the area and how the two come hand in hand.

This is a great story because it features opinions from Schaefer's neighbors, everyday people whose lives were impacted by the man in ways deeper than politics alone. This article also talks about his "do it now" attitude that he will always be remembered for. This story is based completely on opinions because it is told from the perspective of the people who are remembering him. It is interesting to see anecdotes from his neighbors because the reader can get a sense of who Schaefer was from their standpoint. Overall this is an interesting story and gives the reader good insight into Schaefer's life.

This story was interesting because it shows the softer side of William Donald Schaefer. Although it does also feature some of the crazy publicity stunts that he partook in, this article also tells the reader how shy and introverted Schaefer actually was. It discusses where he came from and what he did to make himself such a successful and well-loved person. Although some people thought some of the things he did were ridiculous, he did them with 100% of his effort, which is admirable and yet another reason why people loved him so much. This article is based highly on opinion and not so much fact, but I think that is what makes the story so interesting. Getting the perspectives of people who were close to him is a good way to ... I think this is good journalism because it helps the reader gain an understanding of who Schaefer was as a person even if they have not followed his story. Although it is a mixture of the writer's opinion and anecdotes from people who knew him, this story does a good job of giving the reader an overview of what he did as Baltimore's mayor and the kind of person who he was. This story is very relevant because he died recently and it is likely that many Baltimorians appreciated what he did for the city. Overall this is a good biography, but it does not tell the reader anything about his death.

This story shows good journalism because it is keeping Maryland residents up to date on what is happening with this controversial bill. It shows initiative and courage because this is such a hot-button topic and people have a wide spectrum of opinions on the bill. This article is well-written because it gives quotes from prominent people and it says what groups are doing in order to try to get the bill repealed. It also states the new guidelines that are in place so that whoever reads this article knows what has to be done in order to have the petition. Overall this is good journalism because it is unbiased although this is a very controversial issue.

This is good journalism because it is a controversial topic that has just had legislature passed about it in the recent general assembly. I think that this story is enterprising because it is very brave of the people who were interviewed to comment about the bill's passage because they are illegal immigrants. This story shows the "big picture" because there are a lot of immigrants, but it makes it specific to the Baltimore area so it is relevant to readers. Some really great points were raised within the article and the writer does a great job of staying unbiased while giving all the sides of the argument.

I read this article in print and then raced back to my laptop to review it. This story was interesting to me because the topic of illegal immigration and education is very controversial. I think it is a good thing that this bill allows immigrants to get a college education, however the fact that they are still illegal immigrants is slightly frustrating. What would happen if an illegal immigrant got accepted into a college that an in-state American resident also applied to (and was ... More »

This is good journalism because it gives readers who do not hear about the incident when it happened a chance to get filled in on what occurred. It is difficult to say whether or not this story is biased because there is not enough information for the court to determine if Love's ex boyfriend was actually the one who killed her. This is also good journalism because it adds new facts on to old information that readers who already know about what happened to Love. This story shows both initiative and courage because Love's family is still struggling with the courts even though her death will have happened a year ago in May. Overall I think this is a good story because it is as unbiased as it possibly can be despite not having ... More »

This is good journalism because it gives readers an in-depth look at what legislature has and has not been passed at the end of the General Assembly. It has quotes from known individuals within Maryland's government, and this story also explains what some of the bills are about. Although this story is in-depth, it could be slightly confusing for readers. I got lost a few times just because it was so much information to consume all at one time. Although historic measures were taken and there was a great bit of controversy surrounding this GA, I think that the writer of this article could have done a better job of breaking down the information for the readers so that it could be more easily understood.

I think that this is good journalism because not only does it have testimonial from a police officer, but it also has the reactions from many people who witnessed the event. This helps give the story more credibility and puts it in context of the people who were in the area when the event occurred. This is also good journalism because it has a map that shows the path of travel that the suspect traveled in so that readers know exactly where it occurred.

This is good journalism because it puts the legislation that is being passed into perspective. It shows the big-picture and gives the reader a good idea of exactly what the legislature means. This story has facts and figures, which help validate the claims made within the text. It also has information from well known people within Maryland's government system. The fact that there are sub-headings within the story help break down the information for the reader so it is clear and easy to understand.

I think that this is good journalism because it is very relevant and important for newspapers in Japan to keep their residents updated about the situation with the nuclear power plant. This article was well-written and has quotes from the Prime Minister, Tokyo Electric Power Co., and someone from the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency. This article does not try to hide the fact that the radiation coming from the power plant is dangerous, and advises Japanese residents to evacuate the area if they are within 20-30 Km. I think this is good journalism because it is informative, truthful, supported with good quotes, and it is well written.

I think this is a good story because it is relevant to what is going on in the world today. Same-sex marriage has been a big issue for a while, so I think that it is important to keep the public updated on a bill that could potentially change people's lives. There are some grammatical errors in the story, and I think that a few paragraphs are repeated towards the end. I had to go back and read them a few times over because I felt like I had read them before. Besides the grammatical and editing errors, this is a good story and it is well supported with quotes from recognized people in our state's government.

This is an opinion piece about the sunshine law in Maryland and how elected officials do not stay true to it. This is good journalism because the writer included quotes from state Senators. However, the reporting was done by a different journalist from the Associated Press. Since this is an editorial article, the reader must question if the writer just took the quotes and information from the reporting done by the AP journalist, or if she did some reporting herself.
