This is entertaining opinion journalism and ignores the voting record of conservatives who overwhelmingly supported Bush for the last 8 years.
This is not to suggest that Bush was in fact a liberal president. More »
I am worried that another election might be stolen and that the media will continue to parrot the talking points that benefit the corporations that pay their bills. We cannot afford more of the same and if the media will not do their job, We The People need to be demanding that they do. I hope we can make a difference and demand honest journalism and not allow fear to take away anymore of our rights. NewsTrust is a great idea.
I live in Southern California with my husband and two daughters. I want to leave the world a better place for my children.

Interesting and informative article discussing one recent EPA rule change. The article would have been better if links were provided to the court order and/or EPA website on the rule change. More context would have been provided if the amount of money spent by the lobbyists to fight the rule was compared to the estimated cost to reduce lead emissions. I am not familiar with the communities discussed in the article and information if these are minority communities would have provided more context.
The science is fairly conclusive that there are no safe levels of exposure for children to lead and children that are exposed are frequently in low income areas.
Interviews were conducted on both sides of the debate on Prop 8 in California. The article is balanced and informative but does not convey a sense of the upheaval and divisiveness this proposition has caused.
It is more than gay activists who are organizing to overturn this proposition. Many feel that a simple majority should not overturn the state's constitution and that everyone should have equal protection and not be discriminated against. There was a lot of misinformation and lies told by the Yes on 8 campaign and that fuels some of the outrage.
Author developed a list of seven of Bush's environmental acts that placed corporate interests above the environment and human health. Some interviews were conducted with environmentalists but there was no rationale provided on how the seven 'sins' were selected. The format of listing Bush’s environmental sins combined with an environmentalist’s position on the sin followed by steps that can be taken by Obama was interesting. I would have like more sources for each sin. The majority of the sins dealt with global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollution with no mention on environmental justice issues, contaminated soil and groundwater, and mining practices.
For the last 8 years we have seen our public resources sold to the highest bidder with little consideration to the impact to the environment and at the same time the EPA was controlled not by scientists but by White House staff. It will be interesting to see who Obama selects to head the EPA, Dept of the Interior, FDA, etc. and how much pressure is put on him by industry.
Factual summary of Obama’s position on the future of U.S. troops in Iraq. Story points out some major differences on how Obama will handle the situation differently from Bush including using recommendations made in a bipartisan study that were ignored for the last 2 years. Article provides context on how the results of the election are impacting the negotiations of the pact with the Iraqis. Provides a brief summary on congressional funding of the war and what may occur next year. Good links to sources of information including Obama’s new website.
It will be interesting to see if the recommendations made in studies that were ignored for two years will be helpful in Iraq. I am happy to read that Obama is addressing this issue immediately and to read how his election may impact the agreement,
“It is unacceptable that the Iraqi government will present the agreement to the Iraqi parliament for approval — yet the Bush administration will not do the same with ... More »
This article is fact-filled and links to actual broadcasts and other stories to document the incidents. The document is very long and another format to print would be helpful if possible. I spent over an hour reading and going through some of the links and listening to broadcasts and barely reviewed a fraction of the incidents. This article is informative, in-depth and does not make claims that are not extensively substantiated. This is an excellent article that is enterprising and took an extraordinary effort to compile.
This election it was interesting to see how politicians and pundits were caught frequently in contradictions with statements they made played back to them. It is a large endeavor to compile the information and provide it in a format to fact check quickly.

Thoughtful and well-reasoned article discussing the recent passage of Prop 8 in California. There was no discussion in the article on the support from the California Democratic Party for the No on 8 campaign nor how the Yes on 8 campaign claimed that Obama supported Yes on 8.
Many California's joy of having Obama win was dampened by the passage of Prop 8. At a rally I attended an elementary school teacher had a sign that resonated that said 'Popular bigotry is still bigotry '. That No on 8 rally was taken over by zealots on the other side who claimed they were protecting children and had no idea that the Yes on 8 proposition was being funded by the LDS. After reading Glenn Greenwald's article on the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and ... More »
Excellent and timely investigative journalism that is a must read for voters. The more coverage this story receives the less likely the vote will be stolen. The links at the end of the story are worth looking at and include a link to download a copy of the 'Steal Back your Vote' comic book and a great web site on how to expose, spot, and report election theft.
CNN Reporter Sanchez decries some media outlets for not investigating an explosive racial story. Direct quotes from other media outlets were used. Repeating inflammatory stories without investigation and collaboration shows desperation, lack of ethics, and causes one to wonder why this is allowed by these 'news' outlets.
Factual reporting of a LA Times examination of state records on the hiring practices of Palin as governor. The story provides in-depth and detailed information on some of the more egregious hires by Palin of her campaign supporters to key government positions. I hope the LA Times does a follow up story comparing Palin hiring practices with the former Governor Seligman of Alabama who went to jail for appointing a qualified supporter to a nonpaying board position.
Thank you Chris for posting this interesting and useful chart. Reminds me of the charts we were shown for our 401ks and how our retirement funds would grow if we handed our money over to Wall Street. If I had invested during Democratic Presidents only and sheltered my funds during the Republican controlled times, I could have retired.
Editors at the LA Times thoughtfully and factually discuss Obama's and McCain's positions on immigration and abortion. The discussion on McCain's abandonment of his previous position on immigration to become a follower of the GOP was well done.
Good investigative journalism tracing the origination of the lie that Obama is an Arab and the perpetuation of misinformation. The brief history provided on the Luo tribe was interesting. Benjamin makes excellent points. Worth reading.
Follow up to yesterday's investigative story in the Washington Post on the placement of cell-towers by Verizon and ATT on McCain's Arizona ranch. Excellent documentation of the events and this story provides additional information. http://newstrust.net/stories/28030 link to the original story posted on NewsTrust.
Friedman provides detailed information on the stunt of claiming voter registration fraud. Why is there more outrage over supposed registration fraud (not voting fraud) than purging thousands of voters and taking away their right to vote? Good article that is worth reading.
The editing is well done and treated the family with dignity but for the length of the video there was not much information provided. I was left wanting to know if the children went to school or did they work most of the time, did the mom die in the fire, why did the authorities think he started the fire, what happened to the children when he was deported each time, etc. I was left questioning what was best for the children.
Excellent investigative journalism full of well documented sources. It was not clear if any other political candidate received this level of concern for cell phone coverage. A follow up article regarding the legality of accepting these towers is warranted. Worth reading.
This statement of McCain's deserves more media coverage for what it indicates about him and what a McCain administration might mean for nonChristians. Combine this statement with the pastor delivering an invocation last week for McCain indicating that enemies of Christianity were praying for Obama paints a picture of religious intolerance and bigotry.
Not journalism but a PR piece with links to McCain's websites. One list is for McCain's economic plan but there is no indication which plan they are endorsing and how old the list is. Are the signatures for the latest plan from today or the plan announced at the second debate to buy up the toxic home loans? Could this be the same list from July that economists indicated was misleading that they signed indicating support of McCain but not his plan? A link to the Politco story from July about the the signatures 'endorsing' McCain is included.
Insightful analogy comparing the McCain/Palin campaign to MacBeth. It is a tragedy the way the campaign has turned to inciting hatred and fear. Actual campaign events, photos, and video are used in this commentary to support the analogy. Well done.

Summary of other publications on the ineffective way Mexico is dealing with drug violence. Some information was provided on the increasing number of deaths and the impact to their economy.
Over 10 sources were used to fact-check the statement. Not only did they debunk the statement they indicated it was malicious and unfair. What would be fair would be for this article to receive as much coverage as the lie.
Thoughtful well-reasoned editorial endorsing Obama for President. Reasons provided range from intellect, consistent behavior, capable advisors selected, issues and experience. Interesting to read that the President will make 3,000 appointments to gov office and only 600 need Senate approval. The editors strongly felt that Obama's appointees will be competent and intelligent that he will listen to and not appoint shrill partisan appointees.
Further detail provided on the Alaska First Party and Palin's association. Interviews were conducted with members of the party that have known and interacted with Palin throughout her political career. Video of one of the interviews is included and helps substantiate the statements.
Balanced perspective on efforts for health-care reform. The political reality of how the divide in the country views health care and how the influence of lobbyists are thoughtful discussed and their likely impact on meaningful reform. The costs of both Obama and McCain’s plan are discussed briefly and the estimated costs are similar. It is dismaying to read that the massive deficit is a political reality that will hinder meaningful change.
Interesting and well sourced story on the increased use of National Parks for growing marijuana and the resulting environmental damage. It would have added to the story to know how much ranger time is spent on this problem and if their budget has been increased. Interesting that illegal pesticides are reportedly smuggled into the country but not marijuana. Worth reading.
Interesting well researched story on the impacts of the current state of the McCain campaign with party officials. Numerous interviews were conducted with top Republican party leaders across the country who indicate that they think McCain could win but they express concern about the McCain campaign and then try to distance themselves. Story is well sourced and worth reading.
For Goldberg to now distance himself from Bush in this manner is sad and also interesting to see how he is trying to rewrite history. When he discusses compassionate conservatism he does not mention how that worked after Katrina and for our wounded soldiers. The inference in the article that conservatives were waiting to dissent because we were at war is a weak argument and is not supported by their voting record. There is no mention of Bush's conservative approach to deregulation ...
