There is nothing about ths story that is bad journalism. Everything is well researched and able to be verified. The concusion, for me, is more about left wing "wishful thinking" than actual fact. Sure the Republcans are going through a tough time but they are far from "death door" as this story would have you believe. Also in the opinion interview a couple of things stand out. * Yes the GOP has only 20% identifying themselves but voting intentions are far greater. Actual races - e.g. Harr Reid in Nevada - show strong support for the GOP candidate. * The commentator states "the GOP have offered nothing constructive when it comes to health care reform". Indeed it is almost easier to list the countries that I have NOT lived in or visited for an extended period than those that I have. I joined NewsTrust to give substance to that old cliche of "Travel Broadens the Mind". I feel that I bring a well rounded world view to the table and so am often able to see events in a different light than people who have spent their entire life in the USA.
Like many liberals, (see the Keith Olberman extract) Randi has latched on to the Republican 20% mark as evidence that the party is in demise. This is wishful thinking. In real races such as the Virginai governership or Harry Reid's semate seat the GOP is extremely competitive. The 20% mark is only part of the story and the rest is not presented in this article. Also she goes on to claim that Glen Beck is misusing the Anta Dunn reference to Moa. "It's obvious to anyone .... that Dunn's reference is supposed to be ironic." Well while the link of Mao and Mother Teresa was intended to be ironic the actual description of Mao's views did not seem ironic to me.
