Daniel Ellsberg took truth and democracy so seriously he broke the law to uphold them and expose the truth behind Viet Nam. In this spirit, he urges someone with access to do the same thing today regarding Iraq. His passion is evident in this piece, and the way he relates Viet Nam to Iraq are compelling and humane.
George Will is known for being a so-called "conservative" columnist. So this is not a news story, but an opinion piece. Even so, it's a politically slanted political piece in line with George Will's positions. First he chides Gore if he runs, then he ends with the snide, "Lincoln did not exclaim: "That does it! Instead of running for president, I am going to prepare a PowerPoint presentation." as if that's all Gore is prepared to do. So he's blasting Gore for using a nobel motive to run, and at the same time blasting him if he doesn't run.
This is an opinion piece--an interview with one person, Amy Myers Jaffe, the Wallace S. Wilson Fellow in Energy Studies at the Baker Institute Energy Forum at Rice University. She's very knowledgeable about the subject and makes it clear we need to reduce consumption, increase energy sources (including offshore drilling) and gives an informed overall opinion about what needs to be done.
