This article is very relevant and I mostly trust the author. I would have like to seen more quotes and outside opinions to support the author's claim; however, the article is very well written and informative. This article has 'social responsibility' values, meaning that it serves as a watchdog/conveyer of truth. Such a frame is undeniably appropriate for exposing Meg Whitman's hypocrisy, and I appreciate that aspect of the article. In addition, this article will undoubtedly spark public discourse and serve as a reminder to all politicians that the public IS watching.
I felt that this article was fairly well sourced and very informative. I wish it would have gone more in depth on the 'bigger picture' of immigration; however I appreciate the fact that quotes from people on both sides of the issue were cited. The article is not very enterprising, but I trust the publication and think that it was much more factual than it was biased. The author could have gone more in depth on other issues surrounding the immigration issue as a whole, but overall I trust this publication.

In addition, it is pretty well sourced—charging documents are repeatedly cited, which raises questions about the intentions of the men who threw the initial grenades. However, the article is pretty unbalanced. The use of extremely brief quotes raises skepticism as to exactly what was said in the conversations being quoted. Also, little if no testimony or rebuttal from the friends/families of the convicted soldiers is given. Finally, the reference to the alleged stolen skull and bones is very vague, almost to the point of seeming absolutely ridiculous, so the validity of the article is questionable. Even so, the story of the father and his struggle to ... More »
The issue of ‘islamophobia’ is not new, however, this article definitely sparks more discussion on the topic. Because the issue is being centralized in a small area (the Texas State Board of Education) and children are involved, many readers can relate to it, allowing them to form opinions easily, which, ultimately, raises topics for discussion. Unfortunately, although this article is pretty balanced (opinions from both supporters and opponents of the resolution are cited), it lacks complexity and raises more questions than it answers. To its credit, the portion entitled ‘Texas Speaks, Publishers Listen” provides interesting information about the education system in Texas and, in doing so, provides a slightly greater ...
