This is more research report than journalistic report--Kennedy has done little "reporting" himself--but the thorough documentation of what appears to be reputable sources makes a convincing case for the truthfulness of the report. What most impresses me is the quality of the sources cited: no DailyKos, truthout, or MoveOn.org shills here. Kennedy seems to have done a great job bringing together disparate reports to create a compelling "big picture" representation.

One of the more intriguing aspects of this story is that Leopold has said he will reveal the identity of his sources if the story proves to be unfounded. As the clock ticks on, it seems more and more likely that Leopold has been trapped by Bush-Rove staffers who have become expert at manipulating the media. Since Bush-Cheney-Rove have the MSM in their hip pocket, it seems reasonable that they would use the tactics they have perfected to discredit genuine liberal watchdogs practicing their craft in the blogosphere, where most of the criticism of this administration (other than Bush's low ratings) finds a public.
