This article is one sided due to the lack of response from the Limbaugh/Clear Channel camp. There isn't much that can be said, however, to defend the crude, racist mocking of China's President.

Thorough description of the challenges facing newly elected Tea Party members. A couple of very interesting quotes from elected officials. It will be very interesting to see what role the Tea Party plays in the next couple of months.

This article relies equally on speculation and tangible evidence. There is not all that much to suggest that Olbermann will be forming his own "media empire." In fact, the headline is misleading. The article has much more to do with the circumstances surrounding Olbermann's departure from MSNBC.

Raffi's take on global warming, or as he would prefer to call it - the climate crisis, is as artfully written as one would expect. His words are inspiring but the article falters due to a lack of specific ideas.

So it turns out that America's obesity epidemic is primarily due to the stresses of living in a "market-liberal regime." It's not that we live surrounded by golden arches, it's that we feel the pressure to keep up with the Joneses. Looks like we'll just have to bolster our social programs considerably.

Very good account of the raid, including insights into the political implications for South Korea. The article also provides a brief but thorough primer on Somali piracy.

Some solid factual evidence that demonstrates the silliness of the Don't Ask Don't Tell. $200 million may be a drop in the bucket for the Department of Defense, but it's good to have some tangible proof for why Don't Ask Don't Tell was fiscally irresponsible as well as completely discriminatory.

Interesting article about Groupon, which has received a lot of press in the last few weeks. The author argues that the company may not be as strong as some have recently suggested, due to problems experienced by both participating businesses and Groupon customers.

This op-ed begins with some informed bits of analysis. However, it eventually delves in to unrelated matters of sexual inequality and the modern role of feminism. Mr. Taranto does his best to defend Mrs. Palin, but ends up sounding more like one of the liberal ranters that he decries.

The evidence used in this article does not exactly convince one that the job market is steadily improving. The author acknowledges this, and essentially presents different versions of the same figures over and over. While it may be a simple rehashing of recently released statistics, the article is structured awkwardly. The housing market is mentioned early, then disappears, and then reappears without the aid of a transition.

While this article lacks expert analysis, it is bolstered by the statistics at the bottom. It includes a quotation from the CEO of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, but doesn't include any specific insights from the other side of the spectrum.

Hillary sounds fairly tired in this article, and it's tough to blame her. However, her words by no means indicate that she will definitely not be back should Obama win in 2012. The article utilizes actual quotes from Clinton, but borders on speculation nonetheless.

In 11 short years Lieberman has gone from the Democratic VP hopeful to a man despised by many in both parties. Not very surprising that he will be stepping down in 2012. This article briefly touches on potential candidates for the Senate spot - it will be interesting to see what happens in the State that nearly elected Linda McMahon.

This article pretty much writes itself. It seems the new Governor of Alabama has decided that non-Christians are not his "brothers and sisters." Kudos to the author for quoting a member of the Anti-Defamation League. This item could make its way around the news world pretty quickly.

Dan Deacon is the de facto example of Baltimore's increasingly popular indie music scene. That his music has gained the appreciation of such an eminent filmmaker should be no surprise to those with their ears to the ground. It will be interesting to see what role Deacon's feverish beats play in Coppola's film.

National pundit Joe Scarborough speaks out against the far right politicians who have deflected blame in the wake of the Tuscon shooting. He argues that Sarah Palin and other highly visible Republicans have not acknowledged the potential, some would now say real, dangers of violent, gun-based rhetoric.

Mr. Bugeja's article, while occasionally heavy handed, is a thorough argument for why American universities must rethink and revamp their journalism programs. The author makes the strong case that basic democratic ideals are at risk because of the way the internet has caused a shift from fact-based news to opinion and popularity-based news. While some of the problems he describes are merely symptoms of a changing culture (i.e. the rising popularity of celebrity gossip news), Mr. ... More »
