my husband is a well educated, highly qualified middle aged software engineer. He has had only a few short term contracts since 2001. He submits his resume to everyone who seems interested, and spends a lot of time tweaking it, but can't get hired. Either he never hears from them, or they won't hire him because he's "overqualified" It is frustrating and infuriating that American businesses would rather hire someone from overseas on a H1b visa than hire a qualified American.

This is an opinion piece. It is a reasoned explanation of a point of view, which I believe is based on solid fact. but it doesn't refer to the source of his information. An opinion piece would be unwieldy if it were as well referenced as news story or news analysis, so I wouldn't expect it to have a bibliography.

This article exposes an issue which we all, as Americans, should be aware of and concerned about. Our representative government has been hijacked by insiders and special interests, and endangers our democracy and freedom. This is one example of how this is happening.

This story shows how the wealthy are able to get what they want out of congress, regardless of whether it is good for everyone. It presents the facts on an important fight over water rights in California. It's a question we all need to think about - who should get first dibs on water, the farmer? or the fish?

I have been distressed for so many years, seeing this desecration of a beautiful land, and finding that the government cared more about the greed and profits of the mine owners than about the law, environment, and well being of the people who live there. I hope that the current administration will begin to reverse some of these wrongs, and that more journalists like this one will work to bring these types of issues to the attention of the public.

It's comedy, not journalism. A sad commentary on real journalism that fake news is more complete than real news
I am disgusted and depressed that so many people believe the lies more than the truth. How can we improve the country and solve problems if the loudest voices are spouting misinformation, and the mass of people believe the lies, and refuse to believe the truth?

This is opinion. It aims to persuade with reason and logic. The writer clearly and eloquently presents his position.
I already thought that we should increase the gas tax to keep the price up for all the reasons this writer elucidates. He has an interesting proposal for mitigating the consequences to the consumer.

The Mother of All No-Brainers
This opinion piece is amazing. You have to give the author high marks for originality! But that's all that he gets credit for. The piece shows total ignorance of the budget situation. The Republican House has passed a budget for 2012, with a plan for long-term deficit reduction. The Democratic Senate has not passed any budget at all. They did reject President Obama's budget 0 to 97, and he has not come up with any alternative. The Democrats have nothing whatsoever on the table for the Republicans to respond to.
