I cannot say the question "is this good journalism" applies in this instance it is just Michael Kinsley's knowledge and opinion of Mr. Hitchens', whom I am not familiar with, if I am not mistaken he quotes "no" sources but seems clear he knows the author's history. I personally would dispute Mr. Hitchens' knowledge of the Bible and Christian people's beliefs' I think he needs new sources in that area. Jesus did die in the flesh, was raised from the dead, and for Mr. Hitchens'es education all the criticism's he presents are answered in the Bible, perhaps he should read it. If you are around at the time we will see the "wisdom of the wise confounded." Now I must go and learn more about Christopher Hitchens also read some more ... More »
I believe it is good journalism, I almost always trust NG. The experts they have quoted, may be a little too negative, but they did quote the corps with the one more positive view. I feel though that the negative remarks are probably the most accurate. I know so very little about this kind of information but on a TV program maybe even two years' ago, it was stated that when the Corp first built this levee system that they did not put enough money, time and thought into the planning. As I say, my knowledge is very limited but even to me steel sheet piles driven into the ground 20 feet, seems not deep enough. You could give this piece kudo's in good journalism for the fact that after reading it one might go looking for more ... More »
I probably should not comment on this editorialization but I will, as Mr Olbermann says we are "allowed to think". I often find myself at odds with him. Just one comment, I believe he is reading into the president's words, his interpretation. I feel the president was saying it was unacceptable to him to think that. The President has often answered that his critics' have the right to express their opinions, and to me this is Mr. Olbermann's and he has gone to great lengths to make it known he disagrees with the President.
Yes. This was very interesting and informative to me. I was not that familiar with the history between the two nations. Adam Segal, seemed very insightful. I think journalism is good any time it makes you aware of something you probably should take a greater interest in and learn more about.
In my limited capacity I believe it is, good journalism. It answers basic questions, who, what, why, when, where. It seems to me to represent both sides, the ones I agree with more and also the ones I agree with less. One interesting thing to me was, I was swayed somewhat by one point the side I agree with less made.
