The tsunami in Japan happened today, so this story is very relevant. Everyone around the world is interested in this record breaking natural catastrophe. This story includes two pictures, one that gets an emotional reaction from the reader because of all the damage done. The other picture shows the areas affected by the quake, which is more informative. BBC more than likely had more than one journalist cover this, since they got all this information out so quickly after the tsunami hit. They did an excellent job of getting quotes for the story. The title throws the reader off right from the beginning becasue it included Obama in the title and then he is only mentioned in the lede. This story is also biased because it uses words like "commented wryly" or "turned nasty." Both of these statements are the journalists interpretation of the information or quote being provided and should not be included. Also, the sources used for quotes are both from locals and of course they have strong feelings about not wanting illegal immigrants around, especially because of the car crash. But what these natives didn't get to think of is how much the illegal immigrants help their economy or what if the girl had lived and the sandwich delivery truck man had died?
