This article is an enjoyable read, while also addressing Gabeira's history and current politics. While a broader view on the subject would have been beneficial, it appears that the journalist was unable to get a comment from the U.S. A comment from his opponent, however, would have been even better.

This article reads as a press release. It does very little to inform the reader of the actual issues behind the conflict between the U.S. and Venzuela.

While the story provides good information and first-hand accounts about what is occurring, it fails to provide an adequate basis for the events. The reader is still left to wonder the motivations of the major paramilitary groups and what the government is really doing to stop them.
